I like this header I found in a trade journal. It uses trendy icons like coffee for the type in a clever way. Paul is always saying the same thing, that designers set whats cool and whats not.

I dont know what kind of style you would say this design has but I like the roughness and playfullness of it since its about "weird kids" making money in the art field.

This is from Communication Arts magazine. This design is simple and sexy. Sex sells and its also playing on the name Sundance by using a Native American woman in the cliche old truck.

HUMOR! I dont remember where I aquired this one, but it was so funny I had to hang on to it. I could see it being on some kind of alternative gift card or something. The psychadelic type matches well with the imagery.

Another one from Communication Arts magazine. I dont care so much about the message, but the look is kind of like a comic or graphic novel or something, I definately like the under exposed people next to the stamped text.

Another image playing with humor and wit. Nice color scheme with reds and oranges which fits both angst and zen.

This is pretty amazing. These guys advertise in Communication Arts. Instead of stock photography these guys rely on CGI. The detail on these termites is extreme which leads you to investigate the small type beneath to find out what its selling. Very clean and minimal.

More stock photo advertising. This is really playing on humor and trying to persuade possible customers to think about using humor instead of sex to sell their ideas

This thought provoking design was from a the advertising annual of Communication Arts. It is definately referencing drugs and counter culture with the psychadelic images and the person laying on their back looking dazed... funny.

This was in the interactive annual of Communication Arts. I saw it and thought of the website project. The monochromatic color scheme is nice I dont think it is actually selling anything, it looks like just a generic mock up.

This is was in the interactive annual I believe. This design is playing off the slogan for Fosters Beer.

I have no idea what this is selling if anything, but everything is related to japanese culture some how which I think is very cool. This could be applied to alot of different things and I am going to have to keep this in mind for next semester.

I like this design for one reason... the typography is creatively placed which works for this image, and I dont normally like the typography images.

CMYK aquirred, and who'd of guessed there was a better way to learn photoshop than school! I like the imagery centered on the 2 column text and how they allude to magic with this design. As if there was a magic way to learn photoshop.

I love this ad because it is simple and effective. The company is selling an environmentally friendly paper and they chose to show a "tree hugger".

This is a great advertisement for Kallima papers. It demonstrates how super saturated you can print with vivid colors. This design is elegant and playful which makes you want to check it out.

This was in a trade journal either CMYK or Communication Arts. I like the wit of using actual art (a painting and sculpture) to sell art supplies, the color scheme is nice too, very cool.

This is an edgy and humorous design. It looks like it should be in Rolling Stone but this was from CMYK I believe. I like the hierarchy of this layout, it has alot of depth as far as typography placement.

Jupiter Stock

This is from the Online advertising annual from Communication Arts. I think it is good graphic design because it is using a great photo to grab your attention which is a clever way to sell stock photos. All type is minimal and secondary to the photo above.
